I was notified by a dear friend of mine about the sale of this makeup vanity combination.

Since the price was extremely attractive and by the look of the photo it was seemed to be well-taken care of, I decided to arrange a viewing with the seller.

After I arrived at the seller's house the next day, she was very humble and apologetic regarding the minor imperfections on the surface of the chair and the vanity.

I quickly reassured with her that it will not be a problem which would throw off the sale, and I'll actually be painting over the whole thing.

Interesting enough, she was very surprised and delightful to learn that a little Asian girl like me is passionate about painting and refinishing used furniture to distressed, weathered and shabby chic style.

This solid pine well-kept makeup vanity combination comes with a solid pine chair and a detached stand-alone mirror which can be removed easily for repurposing the use of the desk.

It totally slipped my mind to take photos of the initial state of the mirror.

The mirror was like other two pieces of furniture which came in with the original pine color.

I have neither owned a makeup vanity nor ever worked with one before, so to be certain of what color should I go for this project was quite a debate.

After searching and sourcing for a week on Pinterest and Houzz and refusing to paint the vanity in the repetitive color pattern, white, I realized that I have a can of pastel blue paint left over from previous project which would probably be my best choice.

However, I encountered another dilemma soon after picking the color of the paint, I couldn't decide whether to keep all three pieces unified in the same blue tone or should I explore my painting experience with two tones color scheme.

Again after a lengthy struggle in my mind, I wanted to be outside of the box this time; thus, a spontaneous and adventurous journey for this makeup vanity began.

The vanity and the chair was painted with Van Gogh Fossil Paint Patina color to achieve feminine and dreamy color palette that suits the purpose of this vanity combination more instead of the original wood look which was pretty manly and masculine.

Original wood knobs on the three drawers were replaced and upgraded to beautiful and sparkling glass diamond knobs.

The mirror was painted with Van Gogh Fossil Paint Chalk color so it will not to be blended into the vanity but to create a contrast in between.

All three pieces were sanded lightly to reveal the original wood tone underneath and protected with a layer of Van Gogh Natural Beeswax.

To tie the color scheme of the chair with the mirror, a puffy and comfortable white chair pad is included into the final look.
