This rustic looking entryway or hallway console table is a perfect starting point of either a shabby chic farmhouse interior or a modern farmhouse style when decorating a home.

However, the original stain on the piece was way too dark and was covering up all the beautiful hand-crafted details and features this console table has to offer.

With the thought of wanting to keep the top the way it is but having the bottom painted all white, I started working away.

After four coats of Van Gogh Fossil Paint Chalk color on the bottom part to brighten things up and a layer of Van Gogh Clear Natural Beeswax for protection, I realized the top would still seem very dark if I kept the bottom purely white and not to try anything style wise to tie the top and the bottom up.

I couldn’t control my hands from grabbing the sanding sponge and the Van Gogh French Caffeine Beeswax to create a more rustic look, so here it went.

After another couple hours of sweating away, sanding for distressed look, dark wax applying for vintage weathered style, the piece was finally transformed.

In the meantime, my dear client provided me with a “Snow White"“mirror, mirror, on the wall” fairy-tale type of mirror, which will be hanging above the console table once it's done, as an inspirational piece.

While I was waiting for the console table to dry between coats, I had a few spare moments to look at the mirror more closely, not to check myself out, and to envision the final picture in my head, there was something just didn't seem quite right and bothered me a lot, and I finally figured out the mirror was way too bright and sparkly white comparing to the console table.

Thus, I took out my trust-worthy sanding sponge and dark wax to create much more appropriate shabby chic, girly rustic, light and breezy cottage style for the mirror.

So finally, once for all, everything, from the mirror hanging above, to the stained with wood grain showing table top and the newly refinished by me table bottom are now completed with one unified shabby chic look.
