AFTER

Today I'm starting my blog post by apologizing to all of you because I TOTALLY forgot to take BEFORE photos!

How and why I forgot about it?

I had no idea at all!

All I could remember was that I was rushing myself to finish this project and it just slipped my mind.

By the time I came to realization, I was already holding my paint brush tightly and working away like a mad artist.

Trust me! There was no way and no one could stop me painting when I was in "ON' mode.

Because of its natural stone tile top surface, which makes a truly unique feature, I couldn't seem to find a suitable color palette immediately to work on the original dark wood tone on table top, side and legs attempting to brighten and update the entire look.

So, I just kept pushing back the date that I would start on this project until I received more and more furniture and running low on storage space, then I had to force myself to come up with a plan to deal with this giant.

As the tv show "Fixer Upper" gains more of popularity and the way the host Joanna Gaines rebrands the farmhouse style, people start to rethink and view this particular style differently, and more people rename it "modern farmhouse".

"Modern farmhouse" was then my starting point approaching to this stone and wood combination and filled with natural themed dining table.

This sturdy and well-built with unique stone tile top feature dining table was painted with couple coat of Rust-Oleum Ultra Matte Chalked Paint in linen white color and then lightly dry-brushed with aged grey color to create layered and rustic look.

The entire piece was lightly sanded to smooth out the paint finish, and to seal and protect the furniture paint, a thin layer of Van Gogh Fossil Paint Clear Natural Beeswax was applied.

To highlight the weathered and aged style in order to match the farmhouse stone tile top characteristic, a generous amount of French Caffeine dark wax was used.

This cute dining table is perfect for modern farmhouse, rustic cottage, nautical beach house or simply just old world charmed shabby chic style.

It can sit 6 people comfortably for everyday casual dining and up to 8 people easily for a holiday feast.
