It was one heck of big, chunky and heavy coffee table to lift and fit into my little hatch-back when we went picking it up.

Thank goodness the person who was there waiting for us to pick up was a guy, and luckily he lent us a hand to help my boyfriend carry it all the way from the garage through not a short driveway out to the curb side where I parked my car.

But who am I to complain about the weight of this coffee table, I mean one thing for certain is that it was definitely built with solid and sturdy real wood material.

Jackpot! in my humble but honest opinion.

This coffee table was well-kept from the previous owner, not so much of visible scratches or a serious dent to be taken care of; however, when I bent down to take a closer look on the legs, I noticed some raw wood was exposed and realized that there must have been a dog existed around the household, he/ she chewed up some smooth and shining protective finish of couple small areas on the legs.

Oh well, time to take out sand paper with lower grit numbers and nothing of that sand paper can not deal with right!

While sitting in front of the coffee table, sanding away and vacuuming the wood dust in the same time, I couldn't help but wonder how that little dog survived with all those tiny wood chips or dust in his/ her stomach and was he/ she alright after such a big meal?

This solid wood and well-built coffee table was covered with several coats of Rust-Oleum Ultra Matte Chalked Paint in linen white color to produce an even tone base to begin with.

Grain sack stripes inspired look was then created with one thick stripe in the center and one skinnier stripe on each side as the main focal point, and all stripes were painted with Rust-Oleum chalk paint again in serenity blue color.

The entire piece was slightly sanded with higher grit numbers of sand paper around the corners, edges, on the curved legs and table top surface to achieve lightly distressed shabby chic style.

The coffee table was also sealed and protected with Van Gogh Fossil Paint Clear Natural Beeswax at the end to keep the final result clean and refreshed.

One big surprising bonus that comes with this coffee table “FREE” is the well-maintained, crisp clean and thick-cut glass top which will help the future owner to easily manage this painted piece of furniture without worrying about leaving any heat mark or water/oil stain on the table surface.
