I was just browsing through a local buy and sell app on my phone casually one night when I stumbled across a lady giving away her kitchen hutch for free.

Instantly with joy and shock, I messaged and contacted her to arrange for a viewing and pick-up on the very second day.

As the morning arrived, I dragged my dad and my sister taking my dad's SUV to the lady's townhouse which happened to be just a 5-minute drive away from my parents' house and across the street from the church my parents go to every week.

That was not just coincidence! I thought of it was fate and meant to be!

After our arrival with a bit of brief introduction, the lady and her boyfriend showed us not only the hutch and a pair of vintage dining chairs that she was thinking of giving away as well.

With the word "FREE" lingered around in my head, I, of course, immediately, said YES to the pair of solid wood dining chairs and brought them home happily.

So, today, our behind the scene story would be focusing on these chairs instead of the hutch which requires some repair, so paint and wax had to be postponed to further days.

This pair of vintage style with detailed carvings solid wood dining chairs were painted couple coats of Rust Oleum Ultra Matte Chalked Paint in aged grey (light grey) colour to update the dining chairs with more of a modern and edgy feel.

Also, they were over all slightly sanded to smooth out the surface after paint.

Next, they were sealed and protected with Van Gogh Fossil Paint Clear Natural Beeswax.

To add depth and characteristics, French Caffeine dark wax was then applied to achieve an old world charmed and aged look.
