When I first laid my eyes on this nightstand with drawers at a local thrift store, I knew right away this one was a diamond in the rough.

With coats of fresh paint and couple of new drawer knobs or pulls would easily make this one a perfect bedside storage solution for a girl's bedroom.

After a light sanding to get rid of the old furniture finish on the surface, I started painting away using Van Gogh Fossil Paint in Chalk color.

Due to the original dark wood veneer, even with couple coats of paint, the wood color would still bleed through.

However, knowing that there's no short cut to this problem, I decided to slap on more layers of chalk type paint.

To finally get the nice and even coat of coverage, there were three layers of paint on the drawer front and on sides of the nightstand and be hold for how many layers that went onto the top surface.....

It was five layers of paint to actually get the job done right.

After a light sanding with 320-grit sand paper to smooth out the chalky texture on the surface, I pulled out my wax brush and Annie Sloan Clear Soft Wax to get my workout routine under way.

If you have read my previous blog post  Steps by Steps on How to Paint Your Furniture with Chalk Type Paint, you would know why I refer the wax applying/ buffing process as my regular workout.

With the nightstand itself being transformed and revived, I then switched my focus to the drawer pull.

Even though the old drawer pull was unique and one-of-the-kind, they are for sure not the it-hardware anymore for our time.

So I decided to source out for trendier drawer pull on Pinterest and Houzz.

That's when I came across the cup/bin pull that has been used and shown on tons of kitchen renovations all over the internet.

The hardware I purchased were from Home Depot and the brand was Liberty 2 1/2 or 3 inches Dull Mount Cup Pull.

They came in the Warm Chestnut color, but I've already made up my mind that I was going to spray paint them with another fashion-forward color - Rose Gold.

The color of antique white helps the nightstand achieving a clean and refresh look.

The color of rose gold on the hardware adds a lot of chic and modern finish.

Now this nightstand can be fitted perfectly into shabby chic, transitional look or coastal cottage style.
